ANALYSIS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Although there has been strong committment built up nationally in the past three months- which brings a lot of involvement of the youth representative and the YAC Austria in ECPAT Austria activities, the committment on a regional level has only been promised.

Talking to most of the ECPAT national groups in my region I understand that a lot feel that they lack the ressources to develop CYP within their national ECPAT groups.

Still, there has been committment, which needs to be followed up strongly and actively. It can not be expected from every ECPAT group to develop their own CYP, but what needs to be made clear is that the minimum committment (like answering to Emails, etc.) can and WILL be expected! Especially from those who already have active CYP in their country there needs to be more information exchange and networking within the various youth groups.

What I identify as one of the most important things so far in my work is to be present at important meetings and activities- to bring in CYP perspective and also to meet the people working in the field. Because there are already a lot of stakeholder in the various fields it is important for the youth work to be known and to know the relevant people. This is the starting point of profiting from various expertises and working together with main people in the field. Also, this avoids doing something that already has been done by somebody else, but instead working together and building on existing expertise. This has been possible through close work with the ECPAT Austria coordinators as well as other ECPAT Austria members, who were open and willing to let me participate and appreciated working together with me and the YAC Austria. My recommendations therefore are that all ECPAT members as well as experts in the field should be open and welcoming to show young people what they are doing and what they are working on and also appreciate and accept their help if offered.
