CAMP is a youth volunteer led organization, established in 2000 with the aim to promote the rights of the children and young people in Cambodia, especially the rights to participation. It works for the best interests of the children.

ECPAT Cambodia is a network of local, international organization and other concern institutes working together to end child prostitute, abuse and trafficking. CAMP is a member of ECPAT Cambodia. I’m representing CAMP in this network organization. Through this network, I attend the monthly meeting of this network to exchange and update information on CSEC, I’m also involved in advocacy activities with this network and other.

I attended Child Wise 2006 Asian Regional Task force Meeting. It is the first time that Child Wise welcome young person to attend the meeting and provide the opportunity for them to raise up their voice regarding on the situation facing children in ASIA, especially Child Sexual Exploitation to the ASIAN Government.

On be half of EICYAC in the region I attended ECPAT International Regional Network Resource Exchange for East Asia and Pacific. It is a great opportunity to meet ECPAT International networks in the regional and I have the opportunity to learn from the adult in the regional and also exchange ideas and opinions in order to create the strategic to address CSEC issues in the region.

I attended East Asia and Pacific Youth Human Rights Summer Camp in Taipei, Taiwan. During this camp, I met many children and youth representative from six countries in the region ( Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Mongolia, Indonesia and Cambodia). They met, discussed, shared and updated the progress of children and youth situation in the region. Finally, a regional action plan was created, which initiated by children and youth in the region in fighting Commercial Sexual Exploitation on Children (CSEC)

Exciting Projects “Making Child Rights a Reality” Project

In 2006, CAMP implemented a project titled “Making child rights a reality”. This project was designed to provide opportunity to children practice their right in community especial the rights to participate. More over this project provide children with opportunity to raise their initiative to solve children’s rights related issues.

Through this project, CAMP assisted child peer educators/children club members and child village networks raised their own initiative and four children initiative local action plans were developed to promote children’s rights, child participation and to address some issues in their community such as children drop out of school, primary health care and CSEC. Through children’s initiative local action plans 8 child village libraries and 8 child village networks were created in 8 villages of 4 communes of 4 target provinces (Battambang, Kampong Speu, Kampong Thom, and Rattanakiri). The 8 child village libraries were used as place where children can meet each other, can read books, can play games etc. It was also used as place where child peer educators/children club members and child village networks can raise awareness on children’s rights, children’s participation and other issues such as CSEC. It is also place where children can practice their rights.

Child peer educators/children club members and children village networks also do advocacy in communities by direct visit to families who their children drop out of school to lobby them to send their children back to school.

More over child peer educators/children club members and children village networks had visit directly to communities to explain distribute and stick CSEC posters.
